since nowadays I do most of my coding in Scala, SBT is the natural choice for me and I am quite happy with it.
However, for pure Java projects it probably isn't the best of choices.
Buildr seemed like a good option at the time but I was somewhat disappointed with the amount of activity in its community. It seems things are moving very slowly with it at this point.
I never really looked at Gradle in depth but its community appeared a lot for vigilant than Buildrs, so I would recommend you give it a spin as well.
In the end it's probably a matter of taste and personal preference....
